 Powered by Max Banner Ads

is it ok to have headers running straight up through hood ?
has anyone seen this setup at your track ?
the style used on mud bog trucks / pulling tractors / demo cars
the NHRA rulebook states away from driver and fuel system
and to rear of car
but isn’t clear about straight up
this is for eighth mile
the track tech guy not sure either

  1. beth Says:

That type of exhaust routing is not legal in NHRA drag racing. That had been used at times in the 1950s and 60s but is not legal now.
Top Fuel and Funny Cars use “Zoomie” headers that do turn up but I do not think you mean that.
If your local track tech allows it you can run it as long as you do not enter an NHRA sanctioned event that has traveling tech inspectors. Your local guy or you can call the NHRA division tech director for your division and ask. The number is in National Dragster. It will also have a map to show you what division you are in.
