I Have A 2003 Mustang Gt With An Exhust And Cai. Can I Beet A New Z06 In A Drag Race?
I’m talking in the 1/4 mile. I know my car will probably destroy a wrx sti, or any car like that, but would it be a formattable race between a mustang gt and a corvette z06?

Probably not, even thought the mustang is a fast car. A mustang has a 4.6 litre motor while the corvette has a 7.0 litre motor. Also a stock corvette almost already has a cai and exhaust in addition to many other mods. The mustang that was designed to compete with a corvette would be the shelby or roush 427 versions. Have fun with the mustang, and you would definitely destroy every car below a corvette. Try competing against a charger r/t!

Sure if you are spot about 20 car lengths or the Z06 is held at the tree for about 4 seconds. This can’t be a serious question. Also, an STI would destroy you as well if you just have those mods. If you add forced induction, that is when things become interesting.
I drag raced a 99 GT auto for years. First I had a Vortech V2 S-trim and it ran low 12s @ 113-115 mph. Still not C6 Z06 territory, but better than stock. Lost a few races against a few modified LS1 cars and then add a T-76 turbo kit while still on the complete stock drive-train. The car ran 10.90s – low 11s at 14 psi and 93 octane. I wasn’t too scared of much after that.
Stock vs Stock, it’s a slaughter Z06 or STI. Add a Whipple, KB Twin screw or turbo kit and everything changes.

I’m going to say in a polite way, that no, you won’t be able to beat him, or an STI for that matter. A 2003 GT mustang with your setup will only be able to run at it’s best low 14’s to high 13’s, if you’re a great driver, and you have slicks. 2006 gt’s are still in the 14’s with exhaust and a cai. A baseline corvette is in the sub 13’s. STI’s are low 13 to high 14’s from the factory. anyone that does even the slightest mods will be easily mid 13’s. Yes, they do have a MUCH better launch because they are AWD, but their top speed isn’t the best. Sorry man, maybe with some FI, you might be able to keep up with the Vette.

Nope. Not a chance really. You are look ing at two different class of cars though. Hopefully you will feel better knowing that.
Dont be surprised when the wrx sti jumps way ahead of you from the initial start off the line. They have excellent traction.
I have driven The new Shelbys and Vettes too since I work at an auto auction that handles new lease cars. Really, dont bother. A corvette is made up of carbon fiber on a race chassis design. He might not even run you but then again you will have to have it proven to you sometime. A mustang is not a 12 second car

I wouldn’t worry about a ZO6 whether it be a C5 or a C6 ZO6…you wouldn’t be able to beat a regular base C5 or C6

no competition there. The corvette would some the mustang. Especially if it has the 7.0Lt. Hell the new corvette i think is betting the dodge viper right know.

exhaust and cai.. not a chance.. and even a STi would beat you.. if you wanna beat a z06 in a drag race your will need to put atleast 500hp to the wheels..
