Street Car Races (drag Race Or Drifting Exhibition) In Japan?
We’re planning a trip to Japan and my husband’s passion is into cars. Of course we’ve all seen Fast and the Furious and I don’t think his Japan experience will be complete if he can’t see at least 1 drag or drifting race.
Anybody can point us to where exactly these are held? Thanks!

Hate to break the news to you,but that movie is mostly not true. There’s no 18 year old kids racing $250,000 sports cars through the streets of Tokyo. In fact, much of that movie was filmed in Los Angeles,California !
Races do go on,but they’re illegal and are kept secret until the day they happen. So unless you can meet a Japanese person who is into racing, there’s not much chance of seeing one.

Turns out, The Fast and the Furious movies are about the least accurate car movies of all time. Even Talladega Nights was a more accurate car movie, which it wasn’t. So, don’t expect to see alot of FWD cars producing 10 second quarter miles or drifting, even in Japan.
But if you want to see some sanctioned races while you’re there you can find those pretty easy by googling “drag strip japan” or “professional drifting japan”. You get the idea.

All those kind of street car fights like the movie are strictly prohibited by laws in Japan and the policemen will enforce all of the drivers and even the audience the laws if they want.
Otherwise, professional closed-circuit racing entertainment, keep going to check some web infos like below to see what’s goin on. You need to pay admission though.http://www.mobilityland.co.jp/english/http://www.twinring.jp/shootout_m/schedu…http://www.twinring.jp/calendar_m/http://www.fsw.tv/english/index.html

you are aware that tokyo drift was filmed almost entirely in america right?
also, please make sure that you are aware that most japanese people do not speak fluent english like they did in that movie.
dont base reality on movies….
now if you wanna see some real street racing, go to bangkok…..

Don’t confuse movie with reality.
There is no car race of that kind in Japan. Japanese people even don’t know the movie, Fast and Furious.
