Yes, differences in altitude, weather conditions and track surface affect times, speeds and setups. Plus some have much better hotdogs.

plus each and every drag , oval, and dirt track changes as the weather changes, as the track it self gets used as the day goes on. The lane that was good early in the day may not be worth a darn latter. The crew chiefs have to stay on this from the time they reach the track on Thursday or Friday till Sunday before there last run.

The main difference in race tracks are altitude, weather condition’s (i.e. cloudy , overcast , heat etc.) also the transition from the concrete to the asphalt.Some concrete pads are longer than others.

Additionally some drag strips are concrete, some are asphalt and compounds of asphalt vary wildly from location to location. Of course Concrete is less weather sensitive due to its lighter color and less dense composition.
