In Drag Racing How Are The Cars Able To Fit Such Wide Tires? Is It Cuz Of A Different Suspension?
The frames are altered. there are back halfed cars that have the stock frame cut just about behind the drivers seat and a new narrow frame installed with ladder bars or a 4 link suspension with coil over shocks moved inward toward the centerline of the car. Or you have a tube chassis that replaces the stock frame completely. The tube chassis is also narrowed in the rear to accomodate the bigger tires. The rearend housing is cut down along with the axles, its called Narrowing. Depending on how much narrowing you have done decides how much backspacing you will need with you wheels.
Here is a pic of a 4 link set up without the rear housing. http://images.superchevy.com/technical/0… The original frame is cut away and replaced with this in a backhalf car and if its a full tube chassis, this will be installed as part of the whole chassis.

The rear part of the frame and the rear axles are made very narrow so the wide tires will fit inside the body. The suspension components are moved inward also.
